Analog Camera
An analog CCTV camera represents the older technology in security cameras. Unlike IP cameras, analog cameras transmit video footage as a continuous analog signal. This signal travels through coaxial cables to a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) where it's converted into a digital format for storage and viewing. While not as advanced as IP cameras, analog CCTV cameras offer certain benefits.
One key advantage is their affordability. Analog cameras and DVRs are generally less expensive than their IP counterparts. Additionally, analog systems tend to be simpler to set up, especially for smaller installations. They often require less configuration and can be a good option for those seeking a basic security solution. However, analog cameras come with limitations. The video quality is typically lower resolution compared to IP cameras, and features like remote viewing and advanced motion detection are usually absent. Analog systems are also more susceptible to signal interference and video quality loss over longer cable runs. Their use cases are suited for situations where a basic security solution is needed on a budget, or for existing systems that aren't ready to be upgraded
